The outlet air thermostat is overheating.

Is the exhaust duct blocked or filled with lint? Is the fan clogged with lint or not moving air?

The outlet air thermostat is next to the fan motor. You can get to the fan motor by removing the back panel of the dryer. When the outlet air reaches a specified temperature the sensor shuts off the dryer.

The sensor has a reset button on it. Once this thermostat trips it has to be reset manually.

If you are replacing the thermostat shut off the power and gas to the dryer while you make the repair.
